A 4-seater small plane crashed landed in Thalang district of Phuket province on Saturday morning (March 10) killing two persons and seriously injuring two others.

The incident happened at about 10.21am at Tambon Pa Klok in Thalang district.

The plane, which belonged to Siam Flying Club, crashed into a deserted rice field opposite a small airfield during a training mission.

Four persons were onboard the plane, including a pilot, a co-pilot, and two aviation students from Thalang Technical college.

Thalang police and rescue workers rushed to the scene after being alerted of the incident.

Thalang district officer said the two killed persons were pilot Wattana Thinphang-nga, 68, and co-pilot Flying Officer Narin Taweewat, 67.

Two injured students were Mr Adol Samae and Ms Orawan Jindarat. Both were rushed to Thalang hospital.

It was not immediately known the cause of the fatal crash.
