Twenty illegal Uighur migrants escaped from the detention centre of Songkhla Immigration Office in the early hours of Monday, prompting authorities to launch a manhunt for them.
The fugitives are among a total of 25 Uighur migrants detained at the centre.
They were arrested and detained at the centre after they smuggled into Thailand at Ton Nga Charng waterfall area in Songkhla in 2015.
Authorities said they were alerted of the jail break at 2.00am today.
These migrants are reluctant to return to China under a voluntary repatriation programme.
