On 15 February 2023, H.E. Mr. Cherdkiat Atthakor, Ambassador of Thailand to Cambodia, led a delegation from the Royal Thai Embassy to pay a courtesy call on H.E. Dr. Phoeurng Sackona, Minister of Culture and Fine Arts of Cambodia, on the occasion of the Ambassador’s assumption of duties.

The Thai Ambassador expressed his commitment to continuing the work of previous ambassadors which, in terms of culture, encompasses (1) the protection and safeguarding of cultural heritage, such as combatting illegal trafficking and cross-border smuggling of cultural property, and (2) the promotion of greater public awareness, mutual understanding, and mutual respect for each other’s cultural and national identity, as both Thailand and Cambodia share cultural similarities, through people-to-people interactions and exchanges.

The Cambodian Minister of Culture and Fine Arts congratulated the Thai Ambassador and wished him success in carrying out his important duties. She put forward further cultural cooperation between the two countries, both at the bilateral level and on multilateral fora.
