Arrest warrant out for a suspect in Nakhon Si Thammarat arson attack

The military court in Nakhon Si Thammarat on Friday issued a warrant for the arrest of Arkim Dorloh, a resident of Pattani, under suspicion of setting fire to Tesco Lotus department store in the province last month.

Pol Gen Srivara Rangsipromnakul, the deputy national police chief, said that police investigators had enough evidences to believe that the Pattani native was involved in the arson attack.

According to eyewitness' accounts, Arkim Dorloh went into a grocery shop at the Transport Company's bus terminal in Nakhon Si Thammarat to buy a bottle of energy drink and a pack of cigarettes before leaving to change his clothes and then board a bus back to the Deep South.

Police have, so far, identified four suspects all of them natives of Pattani for alleged involvement in the arson attack at the department store but only one arrest warrant has been secured from the military court.

Pol Gen Srivara said the spate of bomb and arson attacks in seven southern provinces, including Nakhon Si Thammarat, in mid-August were intended to cause chaos in the country.
