Pattaya: No escape for a lone robber who robbed gold in Lamphun Province and fled to hide in Pattaya, confessing to an addiction to online gambling. From the case on June 7, 2025, a criminal, approximately 160-165 cm tall, later identified as Mr. Prakon, age 47, rode a black motorcycle and broke in alone to steal gold jewelry from a gold shop in Pa Sang District, Lamphun Province. He took two 5 baht gold necklaces, worth over 500,000 baht, and quickly fled.
According to Thai News Agency, the latest is that the Chonburi Provincial Police received a tip-off that Mr. Prakon, who has an arrest warrant from the Lamphun Provincial Court for 'stealing property using a vehicle to facilitate the crime or transporting the property or to avoid arrest,' fled to hide in Chonburi Province after committing the crime. The police were deployed to track him down.
Mr. Prakon was eventually found inside a shopping mall in the Central Pattaya area, where the officers arrested him. He admitted to snatching gold from a gold shop in Lamphun Province. After committing the crime, he fled to Pattaya City and sold the gold at a shop. It was initially thought that he might elude capture, but officers had already tracked him down and arrested him.
The reason for committing the crime was his addiction to online gambling, which left him without money and unable to find a way out. Mr. Prakon was taken into custody along with evidence, including 415,072 baht in cash and 2 mobile phones, and sent to the Pattaya City Police investigators for detention. This was before coordinating with the police officers in the area where the incident occurred to take him away for legal proceedings.
