Cabinet acknowledges 9 campaign guidelines “Inheriting the Songkran Thai way of life, joining hearts to the international level”
Ms. Tipanan Sirichana, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office, announced that the cabinet meeting had a resolution to acknowledge the campaign guidelines for preserving cultural values. On the occasion of the Songkran Festival in 2023, under the concept of “continuing the Thai way of Songkran, joining hands to the world” as proposed by the Ministry of Culture. to set up campaign guidelines to continue Songkran traditions and guidelines for public relations and dissemination of Songkran traditions On the occasion that Thailand has proposed to UNESCO to represent the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. as well as taking care of property, health and safety of the people. which is an issue that the government attaches importance to for Thai people and foreigners to enjoy the joy of this Songkran festival
Deputy spokesman for the Prime Minister’s Office said that for the campaign guidelines under the concept “Inheriting Songkran in Thai ways, joining hearts to the world” has 9 items as follows:
1. Asking for the cooperation of government agencies, the private sector and the public to jointly organize Songkran festival activities. focusing on inheriting the value of good traditions Ready to publicize to the recognition of foreigners.
2. Encourage provinces to use the area for religious and cultural activities in the Songkran festival.
3. Campaign for people to jointly inherit the values and things to do in the Songkran tradition, such as offering alms to monks, pouring water on Buddha images, and asking for blessings for the elderly.
4. Campaign for people to wear costumes that create a Thai image, such as using Thai fabrics, local fabrics, retro Thai costumes, or polite dresses. Participate in activities to create awareness of Thai identity to foreigners.
5. Request cooperation from various agencies to support local artists in order to pass on cultural intangible heritage and allow children, youth and the general public to jointly carry on the tradition.
6. Security, safety and public service agencies Strictly enforce the law for people and tourists to have safety in life and property
7. Ask for cooperation from people who use vehicles and use roads. Follow the traffic laws and regulations strictly.
8. Organizing activities related to group 608 to maintain the measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. and respiratory disease for good hygiene of the participants
9. Encourage public, private and public sectors to exchange and learn about Songkran traditions. Both at the local, national and international levels, on the occasion that Songkran in Thailand is on the list of representatives of the intangible cultural heritage of humanity that has been taken into consideration by UNESCO.
