Chinese National Arrested for Murder of LGBTQ+ Woman in Pattaya

Pattaya: A 42-year-old Chinese man, Mr. Tongyuan Fu, has been arrested in connection with the brutal murder of Mr. Woranan, an LGBTQ+ woman, in an apartment in Central Pattaya. Pol. Col. Thawatchakiat Jindakwansong, Commander of Chonburi Provincial Police, along with Pattaya City Police, took Mr. Tongyuan into custody to reenact the crime scene, confirming that the case is not related to human or organ trafficking.

According to Thai News Agency, the suspect was taken to the crime scene on Walking Street, where a large crowd gathered to observe the reenactment. The police then proceeded to the apartment where the murder occurred, with the suspect retracing his actions. Fearing for the suspect's safety, officers closely monitored the family of the deceased, who followed the reenactment on a motorcycle.

Following the reenactment, an incident occurred at the Pattaya City Police Station when Mr. Uan, the father of the deceased, attempted to physically attack Mr. Tongyuan. The police intervened swiftly to prevent any harm to the suspect.

Mr. Uan expressed his profound sorrow over the loss of his child, who was the family's primary provider. Recently having completed a new house, the family depended heavily on Mr. Woranan's support. Mr. Uan emphasized his desire for justice, expressing a strong wish for severe punishment for Mr. Tongyuan.

Pol. Col. Thawatchakiat explained that the case has garnered significant public attention due to its violent nature. The police acted swiftly upon receiving the report, securing an arrest warrant and apprehending Mr. Tongyuan at Suvarnabhumi Airport before he could flee to China.

Initial investigations indicated that Mr. Tongyuan and the victim had connected via WeChat after meeting on Walking Street. They arranged to meet at the apartment where the incident occurred. A dispute erupted between 1am and 2am, with neighbors reporting loud noises. Surveillance footage later showed Mr. Tongyuan leaving the premises at 7am with a suitcase and a plastic bag.

In a gruesome detail, Mr. Tongyuan admitted to dismembering the victim's body, an act he claimed was inspired by a TV series. He confessed to the murder, describing a disagreement over payment for services, which escalated into a violent altercation.

Pol. Lt. Col. Thawatchakiat confirmed there was no evidence of human trafficking or organ trafficking, dismissing circulating rumors. Forensic examination of the suspect's belongings revealed only personal items and the victim's mobile phone.

Further investigation revealed that Mr. Tongyuan, a welder from China, was on his third visit to Pattaya and had rented an apartment for six days. Authorities continue to gather evidence to conclude the case.
