Chonburi-Bangpakong Youth Conflict Escalates to Fatal Gunfight.

Chonburi-Bangpakong: Unable to resolve the issue, two groups of young men started a gunfight, resulting in one death and one injury. The incident occurred around 10pm last night. Pol. Col. Phongsan Meesri, Superintendent of Bang Pakong Police Station, led police officers and officers from the Forensic Science Division of Chachoengsao Province to investigate a teenagers fighting and shooting, resulting in injuries and deaths, in a parking lot opposite the Lao Market on the old Sukhumvit Road in Bang Pakong District. According to Thai News Agency, the scene revealed 8 .380 caliber bullet casings and 4 9 mm casings. About 20 meters away, the body of Mr. Phanutat, 26 years old, was discovered. He was shot in the upper right arm once through the side and in the middle of the back once. The injured person, Mr. Phongsathon, 26 years old, sustained two gunshot wounds to his upper left arm. His friends transported him to Bang Pakong Hospital. The deceased's friend detailed that the conflict began when a group of C honburi teenagers met to resolve an issue with a group of Bang Pakong teenagers. Unable to reach an agreement, chaos ensued. Mr. Phanutat and Mr. Phongsathon arrived on motorcycles to assist their juniors but were shot at continuously by the Chonburi teenagers. Mr. Phanutat was shot once initially and attempted to flee, but he lost control and fell, leading to his being shot again and killed. The Chonburi teenagers fled the scene. The Bang Pakong Police Station's investigation team swiftly pursued the culprits, arresting Mr. Jakraphong and Mr. Phakphon, both 21, along with two male and two female teenagers at 2 am. They were apprehended at Mr. Jakraphong's residence in Ban Suan Subdistrict, Mueang District, Chonburi. Officers found the .380 caliber gun used in the incident on Mr. Phakphon and seized a white Chevrolet Cruze, bringing all six individuals in for questioning. Mr. Jakkraphong confessed to discarding a 9 mm gun used during the incident while fleeing but could not recall its location. The conflict rooted from a dispute involving Mr. A, who accused Mr. Phongsathon of stealing 1,000 baht. Although Mr. Phongsathon denied the accusation, tensions escalated, leading to a challenge to fight. Mr. A chose to fight Mr. Bo, Mr. Phongsathon's friend, instead. After the fight, Mr. Bo and Mr. A reconciled, but as Mr. Bo escorted Mr. A to his car, Mr. Phongsathon unexpectedly attacked Mr. A. Subsequently, the Chonburi group began shooting, resulting in Mr. Phongsathon being shot in both arms and Mr. Phanutat being fatally shot. The police pressed three remaining male suspects to surrender, which they did at 6 am. It was later revealed the deceased intended to prevent further trouble but was mistakenly targeted. The police charged the suspects with murder, attempted murder, and unauthorized firearm possession.
