Commander Reveals Sai Mai Police Station’s Involvement in Online Gambling Solicitation

Bangkok: The Commander of the Technology Crime Suppression Division has disclosed that the Sai Mai Police Station is implicated in offenses related to online gambling solicitation. This revelation follows the submission of evidence by 'Kan Jom Phalang' regarding a gambling website operated by an individual using the Facebook name 'S.P. Sai Mai.' The Cyber Police are currently investigating the matter.

According to Thai News Agency, the latest update from Pol. Lt. Gen. Trairong Phiwpaen, the Commander of the Technology Crime Suppression Division (TCSD), confirmed that 'S.P. Sai Mai' is linked to online gambling activities. The authorities are preparing to issue a summons within the next week. The Commander emphasized that if the gambling website is found to have been closed, the case will still proceed as it has no statute of limitations.

The investigation, initiated after 'Kan Jom Phalang' provided relevant information, aims to determine the involvement of 'S.P. Sai Mai' with the gambling website iSb888bet.com. Officers discovered that the individual in question wore a shirt displaying the gambling website's name, which constitutes an advertisement for online gambling. This act is punishable by up to 2 years of imprisonment and a fine not exceeding 2,000 baht. Further investigations are ongoing to ascertain whether the website remains operational. Regardless of its status, prosecution is possible due to the absence of a statute of limitations for such offenses.

Additionally, the Sai Mai Police Station's disclosure that the individual is a professional gambler will be further examined when they acknowledge the charges.
