Commerce to add value to Thai rice

Commerce Minister Apiradi Tantraporn said yesterday that the ministry is adding value to Thai rice through innovations.

Speaking at the Thailand Rice Convention 2017 yesterday, she said the ministry is coordinating with all parties involved to develop innovations on an industrial scale within the Thai rice sector which will allow Thai rice to increase in value.

She stated that the Thailand Rice Convention 2017 is part of the ongoing effort by the government to modernize and bolster the competitiveness of Thai rice in the global market.

At the convention she said large booth space has been prepared for local exporters at the event so that they can initiate negotiations with foreign importers directly.

She was confident that with all efforts to promote rice, this year's rice exports will be over 10 million tons.
