CSD sends six soldiers to Military Court

Crime Suppression Division (CSD) today escorted six soldiers accused of having military weapon in possession to the Military Court for extended detention.

The six are among 17 soldiers, police and civilians rounded up after the CSD busted a arms trade gang selling military weapon via the Internet and sending them to customers on private postal services.

Among the six sent to the court today are three sellers, and three buyers.

The sellers are identified as Sgt Master Tanakorn Boonkarn, Sgt Master Chatchai Iamsomboon, and Lance Corporal Pradipat Sanehdee.

The CSD also asked the court not to grant bails for all suspects as the crimes they committed are serious and carry high penalties.

The arms trade was discovered after Kerry Express Phaholyothin branch alerted the police after employee opened two returned parcels and found eight M67 grenades and several bullets inside.

Tracing the senders of the two parcels led to the arrest of the gang of soldiers and their customers.

They were arrested separately in Samut Prakarn, Songkhla, SuraThani, and Phitsanulok.
