DSI Apprehends Suspect in Mae Mon Gambling Network

Bangkok: DSI arrests wife of capitalist who colluded to run gambling website network "Mae Mon" in condo in Chatuchak area.

Today at approximately 1:40 p.m., the Investigation, Tracking and Intelligence Center of the Department of Special Investigation arrested Ms. Praewa (surname withheld), a suspect in the 'Mae Mon' network, under the Criminal Court arrest warrant No. 1918/2567 dated April 26, 2567, for the offense of 'jointly accessing the bank accounts of others who are not her own, jointly organizing gambling or using tricks to lure, help advertise, or directly or indirectly persuade others to gamble or bet on gambling that is not authorized by an official, and jointly laundering money.' The officers arrested the suspect at a condo in Chom Phon Subdistrict, Chatuchak District, Bangkok. The officers informed her of the charges and her rights under the Code of Criminal Procedure, including informing her that images and audio must be continuously recorded while arresting and detaining her until she is handed over to the special case investigator to inform her, in accordance with the Prevention and Suppression of Torture and Enfo rced Disappearance Act B.E. 2565. The suspect was then taken into custody and handed over to the special case investigator responsible for the case for further legal action.

According to Thai News Agency, the case is a special case number 76/2566 of the Technology and Information Crime Division, where Ms. Praewa (surname withheld) acted together with Mr. Pitiya, her husband and a suspect in this case who was previously arrested, jointly acting as a financier in the online gambling website Maemon network and receiving money transfers from the online gambling website.

The operation to track down and arrest suspects with arrest warrants in special cases is in accordance with the order of Pol. Maj. Col. Yuthana Phraedam, Director-General of the Department of Special Investigation, and Pol. Maj. Col. Chatuphol Bongkochmas, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Special Investigation, who assigned the Investigation, Tracking and Intelligence Center, which is an agency under his command, to organize an operation team to track down and arrest suspects with arrest warrants in order to bring those accused of committing crimes who are still at large into the justice process.
