The Election Commission of Thailand publishes candidate qualifications. MPs and prohibited characteristics The election day was set for May 14, and April 3-7 for constituency-divided elections from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and April 4-7 as party-list candidates. Section 41 and Section 42 of the Organic Act on the Election of MPs stipulate the qualifications and prohibitions of candidates for election.
Qualifications of candidates for election under section 41 stipulate that one must have Thai nationality by birth. being not less than twenty-five years of age on the election day Being a member of only one political party for a consecutive period of not less than ninety days up to the election day. except in the case of a general election due to the dissolution of the House, the period of ninety days shall be reduced to thirty days. and candidates for constituencies Must have one of the following characteristics: 1. Having his name listed in the house registration in the province in which he applied for election for not less than five consecutive years up to the date of applying for election. 2. Being a person born in the province applying for election 3. Having studied in an educational institution located in the province where he is applying for election for at least five consecutive academic years. 4. Used to serve in government service or perform duties in government agencies or used to have a name in the house registration in the province where he applied for election as the case may be, for a period of not less than five consecutive years.
As for the prohibited characteristics of candidates for election under section 42, they must not be addicted to harmful drugs. not being bankrupt or having been dishonestly bankrupt not being an owner or shareholder in any newspaper or mass media business; not being a monk, novice, ascetic or clergyman; Not insane or mentally infirm not being temporarily suspended from being able to stand for election or being revoked the right to stand for election Not sentenced to imprisonment and being detained under a court warrant Has never been imprisoned and has not been released for less than ten years up to the date of the election except for an offense committed through negligence or a misdemeanor
Never been ordered to be discharged from government service government agency or state enterprises because of malpractice or is deemed to have committed corruption or misconduct in the official sphere Never been subject to a final judgment or order of the court that property be vested in the state due to unusual wealth or having been sentenced to imprisonment by the final judgment for committing an offense According to the law on the prevention and suppression of corruption. Never been sentenced to the final judgment for committing an offense against an official position or duty in fair or committed an offense under the law on offenses of employees in organizations or government agencies. or offenses relating to property committed dishonestly according to the Criminal Code, offenses under the law on borrowing money that is fraudulent to the public the law on narcotics for the offense of being a manufacturer, importer, exporter or dealer; the law on gambling for the offense of being a bookie or bureaucrat Anti-Human Trafficking Laws
