Emirates plane seeks emergency landing at Phuket airport after a Somalian male passenger fell unconscious

An Emirates flight from Dubai to Kuala Lumpur yesterday made an emergency landing at Phuket International Airport when a Somalian male passenger fell unconscious on his seat.

The EK346 flight was heading for Kuala Lumpur when the pilot requested an emergency at Phuket airport at around 1pm after a male passenger from Somalia fell unconscious on his seat, according to The Phuket News.

After the plane landed, the man was rushed by ambulance to Thalang hospital.

But he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The death was reported to Sakoo police station by the hospital at about 3.00pm.

A police officer said the hospital was informed that the passenger had fallen unconscious on board an Emirates flight en route to Malaysia, forcing the pilot to request emergency landing at the nearest airport.

The man might suffer some health condition, but the actual cause of death was not established yet.

Authorities are contacting the Somalia embassy to inform his relatives.
