An advisor attached to the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) Pol Col Sihanart Prayoonrat was ordered transferred to the Prime Minister's Office effectively as of Wednesday May 3 by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha.
The order did not specify what wrong that Sihanart, former AMLO secretary-general, did which prompted his abrupt transfer. It only mentioned AMLO order dated April 28 last year appointing a fact-finding committee to investigate massive fraud in Klongchan Credit Union Cooperatives.
Under the prime minister's order, Sihanart will serve as an advisor to the prime minister on bureaucratic reform, anti-money laundering affairs and other assignments to be delegated.
The former AMLO chief continues to receive his pay and other fringe benefits from AMLO while working at the PM's Office under the supervision of Deputy Prime Minister Wisanu Krea-ngarm.
An informed source said that the prime minister also ordered the transfer of Mr Noppadol Uthen, a director attached to AMLO, to the Office of Civil Service Commission in the PM's Office.
