Expressway Authority of Thailand Opens Traffic at Din Daeng Checkpoint, Chalerm Mahanakhon Expressway

Bangkok: The Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT) has officially opened the entrance and exit of the Din Daeng Toll Plaza on the Chalerm Mahanakhon Expressway at 9:00 a.m. today. This reopening follows the successful completion of necessary safety inspections and demolition activities related to the Aspire Vibha-Victory project.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Surachet Laopoolsuk, Governor of the Expressway Authority of Thailand, confirmed the completion of the demolition of a damaged tower crane linked to the Aspire Vibha-Victory project. This crane had previously been affected by an earthquake, impacting the Chalerm Mahanakhon Expressway's entrance and exit at the Din Daeng Tollway. The demolition was carried out with the assistance of a safety working group and the EXAT engineering team, who conducted thorough inspections to ensure the expressway's structural stability and safety.

The closure of the Din Daeng Toll Plaza, initially planned from 5-7 April 2025, involved nightly shutdowns from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. to facilitate the crane's dismantling. This closure was necessary due to the crane's earthquake-induced damage, which posed a risk to the expressway's operations.

During the closure, outbound vehicles from Chalerm Mahanakhon Expressway at the Rama IV entrance were redirected to use the Si Rat Expressway, with options to exit at Phahon Yothin or Rama 9 to reach Din Daeng Road and Vibhavadi Road. Vehicles from Si Rat Expressway were advised to use the Phloen Chit exit to access Asoke Road towards Din Daeng Road and Vibhavadi Road.

For inbound traffic, vehicles heading towards Bang Na were advised to use alternative routes via the Si Rat Expressway at the Bang Sue Tollway or the Khlong Prapa Tollway 2 in front of the Ministry of Finance to ensure smooth travel.
