Faculty of Education adopts the Coding & STEM model to build future innovation and joins the NXPO Frontier Research booth, Brainpower Thailand 2022

Faculty of Education and Khon Kaen University Demonstration School led by Assoc. Prof. Sumalee Chaicharoen, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty and the Faculty administrators, together with a group of lecturers and students of Khon Kaen University Demonstration School brought the “Model and Innovation of smart and integrating program – Coding & Stem – for young innovators” to exhibit at the NXPO Frontier Research booth, Brainpower Thailand 2022. The event, called “Boon Poed Ban Paeng Muang: building manpower across the frontier towards future industries”, was organized by the Office of National Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation Policy Council (NXPO) and the regional network, at the Art and Cultural Center, Khon Kaen University. The event was honored to have Professor Anek Laothammathat, Ph.D., the Minister of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation preside over the event and deliver the opening address and a special talk.

The “Model and Innovation of smart and integrating program – Coding & Stem – for young innovators” is applied at Khon Kaen University Demonstration School. The model is composed of 4 systems that cover the kindergarten, primary, secondary and high school levels, the details of which are as follows: 1) the kindergarten level – intellectual preparation through the process that emphasizes calculation and the use of Unplug Coding innovation based on real-life stories; 2) the primary level – emphasizing the integration of Smart Coding and robotic technology that is linked to life skills, in order to develop thinking for problem solution and for building innovation creators; 3) the secondary level – emphasizing integration of computer program writing and calculation techniques, problem solutions by the use of computer, and fundamental competency in AI for innovation creation; 4) the high school level – with emphasis on mathematics and IoT for innovation creation and entrepreneurial skills.
