FDA Warns! Telegram Group Boasts CDS Can Cure All Kinds of Diseases, Risking Life

Bangkok: The FDA warns the public not to believe the Telegram application group that has been spreading information exaggerating the properties of a product called Chlorine Dioxide Solution (CDS), claiming that it can cure a variety of diseases, which could be dangerous to health and even life-threatening.

According to Thai News Agency, Pharmacist Morakot Charoonwattana, a senior expert on product safety and effectiveness and public health product usage at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), revealed that someone had filed a complaint through the Public Health Ministry's complaint management system to investigate a Telegram group called CDS_Thailand (link: https://t.me/s/CDS_Thailand), which has thousands of members. From checking the link as complained, it was found that it was a channel specifically for those interested in joining and provided false information about the Chlorine Dioxide Solution (CDS) product, which the FDA and Rajavithi Hospital, Department of Medical Services, Ministry of Public Health, had previously issued a public relations news warning the public. There was a message referring to the user's experience, stating that CDS can treat various symptoms incredibly, such as cancer, AIDS, autism, Alzheimer's disease, and Parkinson's disease, or that using it as eye drops can help clear up wh ite patches in the eyes and improve vision. There were also comments and reviews from people who claimed that it really worked, causing many people to believe it, all of which were not true.

The FDA would like to emphasize to the public to be careful and not to believe information disseminated in the aforementioned Telegram group or other channels that exaggerate the properties of CDS. Exaggerated advertising is not only illegal, but also takes advantage of consumers and may be harmful to consumers.
