The Ministry of Finance will submit another welfare scheme to help low-income earners to the government for approval next week.
Apisak Tantivorawong, the Finance Minister, said the main target group of the second-phase welfare scheme are those living below the poverty lineearning less than 30,000 baht a year.
Meanwhile, the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) also announced that it will be introducing measures to help poor farmers that have been vetted in the latest round of registrations.
BAAC president Apirom Sukprasert said three policies which cover nine programs will be implemented placing priority on educating and developing farmers potential.
Vital among these are locating and developing alternative skill sets to allow greater opportunities for employment in alternative careers, he said.
Mr Apirom said these programs will bolster earnings and fostering a lower dependency on unofficial or unregulated loans which have effectively chained them to poverty.
