Bangkok: The Minister of Justice held a meeting of the Committee to Monitor and Solve the Drug Problem Comprehensively, addressing the case of a mother who confined her drug-addicted son as a lesson. The Minister is preparing to send the son to Thanyarak Hospital in Khon Kaen and is ready to explain the 14th floor case if summoned by the House Security Committee, stressing adherence to the law. According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Col. Thawee Sodsong, the Minister of Justice, chaired the first meeting of the committee to expedite the prevention, suppression, and resolution of the drug problem. The Prime Minister has mandated the establishment of this committee to ensure a comprehensive approach involving communities, local governments, police, military, and medical professionals. This initiative aims to implement strategic plans with scientific indicators and intensive drug suppression, particularly focusing on the central region. The Minister also plans to involve the Department of Enforcement to seize asset s from bankrupt drug dealers. The Minister discussed a specific case involving a mother who created a caged room for her 42-year-old son, severely addicted to drugs. He has communicated with the mother, expressing gratitude and highlighting the need for this incident to serve as a corrective lesson. The Minister awaits a medical diagnosis for potential mental illness and medication needs for the son, who will be transferred to Thanyarak Hospital in Khon Kaen Province. The Minister plans to visit the family to monitor progress and assist in finding employment if the son successfully rehabilitates and reintegrates into the community. Pol. Col. Thawee also addressed the House of Representatives' Committee on State Security, Thai Border Affairs, National Strategy, and Reform, which convened to discuss the Corrections Department's decision to allow former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra to stay at the Police General Hospital. The Ministry of Justice has expressed readiness to provide clarifications if requeste d by the committee. This situation pertains to prison administration, and any legal issues will be addressed within the legal framework. Pol. Gen.
