Bangkok: Kan Jom Phalang and his family have taken a significant step by donating part of their received funds to another victim of violence at the hands of a politician's son. Mr. Kanthas Pongpaiboonwet, known as "Kan Jom Phalang," along with his family, decided to share the donations they received after a tragic incident involving the son of a famous politician.
According to Thai News Agency, the family, who were victims of a collision caused by the politician's son driving a luxury car, received 500,000 baht from public donations. After internal discussions, they agreed to keep only half of the amount for themselves, allocating the remaining 250,000 baht for societal help. They prioritized aiding another victim who had suffered a severe head injury inflicted by the same politician's son. This victim received 100,000 baht from the donations to assist with medical expenses and emotional healing.
The remaining funds will be directed towards other philanthropic efforts, including a gesture of gratitude towards a citizen who documented the incident and support for the elderly. The family provided proof of the transfer with a slip shown to the media. The victim expressed gratitude towards the family and Kan Jom Phalang, highlighting her decade-long struggle for justice and financial support following the assault. Despite spending over a million baht on legal and medical costs, she has yet to receive any form of compensation from the perpetrator.
The victim's life was significantly disrupted due to the incident, impacting her education and future plans. She remains vocal about seeking accountability from the politician's son, emphasizing the need for the responsible party to address the harm caused. The gesture of support from Kan Jom Phalang and his family underscores the importance of community help, though it also highlights the lack of accountability from those at fault. The victim hopes for a more just society where victims receive due compensation from wrongdoers rather than relying on public generosity.
