Assoc. Prof. Darunee Chotisyangkoon, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture explained, “The ‘Agro Tour’ is an event organized by the Faculty of Agriculture with dedicated intention for young kids to learn about farming and for the agricultural students to practice their skills in managing ecological tourism so as to add values to farming. The target group is the young generation and kids. The activities are collaborated by KKU Demonstration School Modin Daeng, KKU Demonstration School, Faculty of Education and the Faculty of Agriculture. The objective is to teach kindergarten kids to transplant rice seedlings, feed fish and do other farming activities in order for them to realize that farming is the foundation of Thai people and the important root for national development. The activities were fun for the kids, many of whom had never stepped in mud before. The kids learned how hard the farmers work for the whole country people.”

The ‘Agro Tour’, beside rice transplanting, featured other activities at stations such as making bead bracelets, making dolls from banana leaves, making toy horses from banana stems, planting sunflower trees in a pot, mimicking cicada song, playing insect bingo, painting fish models, planting water plants, making paper fish traps. The kids were able to take the fish they caught and the bracelets they made back home. All activities were fun and interesting for the young children.

The event was also a pre-practice activity for the students of the Faculty of Agriculture, who will be carrying out many jobs at the Isan Agricultural Fair 2023, which is scheduled on January 27 until February 5, 2023. Some students of the field crop majors are also preparing their windmill flower fields ready for the upcoming Commencement Ceremony of the 2022 graduates in Mid- December. The students said they are working their best to create the greatest and most beautiful flower fields ever!
