Labour Minister Awards Certificates for Model Establishments of Good Labour Practices Following the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy in 2022

The Labour Minister awarded honourary certificates for model establishments of good labour practices following the sufficiency economy philosophy and outstanding welfare committees in establishments for 2022. It also honoured “model enterprises” in providing appropriate welfare, and sustainable development in the quality of life of the workforce, according to the sufficiency economy philosophy.

On June 20, 2022, at 09.30 hours, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin presided over the awarding ceremony for the model establishment of good labour practices according to the sufficiency economy philosophy and outstanding welfare committees in establishments for 2022. The occasion took place at the meeting room on the 5th floor, Ministry of Labour. He said that Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn gave permission for the Ministry of Labour to operate the “Good Labour Practices Project Following the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy.” It aims to enable business establishments to adopt the sufficiency economy philosophy as a guideline for improving the quality of life for workers. The government under the leadership of Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha, and Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, who oversees the Ministry of Labour, gives importance to the development of the workers’ quality of life. The Ministry of Labour, therefore, initiated the “Good Labour Practices Project Following the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy” in 2021. It has continued to promote the adoption of the sufficiency economy philosophy, namely moderation, reasonableness, and self-reliable. With regards to the project, the Ministry of Labour has a mission to encourage employers and employees to use the available natural resources to create value, with the cultivation of vegetable gardens and farming for consumption and distribution, which reduces expenses and increases employees’ household income. There are 400 establishments across the country participating in the project. Employees have benefited from cost reductions and increased household income by approximately 21,557,427 Baht.

“The Ministry of Labour believes that adopting the sufficiency economy philosophy is a guideline for promoting and improving the quality of life of employees, according to the good labour practices project according to the sufficiency economy philosophy. This will help employees and employers have a good quality of life and live happily in all situations sustainably,” concluded Mr. Suchart.

The Department of Labour Protection and Welfare’s Director-General, Mr. Niyom Songkaew, added that in 2022, there are ten establishments considered to be model establishments of good labour practices according to the sufficiency economy philosophy. The ten places are: 1) Thai Stanley Electric PCL 2) Cosmos Brewery (Thailand) Co., Ltd. 3) Supalai Property Management Co., Ltd. (Supalai Pasak Resort & Spa) 4) Grace Food Co., Ltd. 5) Mitrphol Kalasin Sugar Co., Ltd. 6) BDI Alloy Enterprise Co., Ltd. 7) Charoen Pokphand Foods PCL, JR Shrimp Hatchery 2 – 3 8) The Retreat Hua Hin Co., Ltd. (Ace of Hua Hin Resort Hotel) 9) Thai Coconut PCL and 10) Surat Thani Beverage Co., Ltd.

In addition, ten establishments have been selected for the outstanding welfare committee in the workplace in adopting the sufficiency economy philosophy as a guideline in providing welfare to improve the quality of life for employees. The organizations are as follows: 1) Thai Stanley Electric PCL 2) Cosmos Brewery (Thailand) Co., Ltd. 3) Boon Foods Co., Ltd. 4) Supalai Property Management Co., Ltd. (Supalai Pasak Resort & Spa) 5) Mitrphol Kalasin Sugar Co., Ltd. 6) Udorn Permphon Co., Ltd. 7) BDI Alloy Enterprise Co., Ltd. 8) Charoen Pokphand Foods PCL, JR Shrimp Hatchery 2 – 3 9) Thai Coconut PCL and 10) Sri Trang Agro-Industry PCL, Narathiwat Branch.

“Establishments that have received an award for model establishments of good labour practices according to the sufficiency economy and outstanding welfare committees in establishments today will be a good model for enterprises across the country in providing appropriate labour welfare to improve the quality of workers’ lives following the sufficiency economy philosophy,” concluded the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare’s Director-General.
