Mae Sariang Forest Closed as Authorities Hunt for Double Murder Suspect

Mae Sariang: Mae Sariang Provincial Court has issued an arrest warrant for a suspect involved in the brutal murder of two Mae Kong Kha villagers. Security forces have closed the forest in a bid to apprehend the suspect, who is considered dangerous, and have prohibited unrelated individuals from entering the area until the suspect is caught.

According to Thai News Agency, the Mae Sariang Provincial Court, located in the Mae Sariang District of Mae Hong Son Province, has approved an arrest warrant for Mr. Yuthana, a 27-year-old resident of Ban Huai Hom, Tambon Mae Lan Noi, Amphoe Mae Lan Noi, Mae Hong Son Province. He is accused of the brutal murders of two villagers from Ban Mae Kong Kha. Law enforcement officials are actively pursuing Mr. Yuthana to bring him to justice.

In the past two days, nearly 100 officers have been deployed in an intensive search for Mr. Yuthana, who is well-acquainted with the forest and its escape routes, making the search challenging. Despite their efforts, authorities have yet to locate him.

Mr. Somchat, a relative of the deceased, Mr. Dike and Mr. Kamol, both from Moo 10, Ban Mae Kong Kha, Mae Yuam Subdistrict, disclosed that there had been no prior conflicts between the victims and the suspect. However, it is known that Mr. Yuthana has a history of drug involvement, which might have led to hallucinations and violent behavior. Recently, gunshots were heard in the vicinity, raising concerns about the suspect's potential presence.

The tragic events unfolded on April 23, 2025, when authorities were informed of a fatal shooting involving a shotgun in the village. The suspect's family had reported him missing since April 11, 2025, prompting daily searches by officials and villagers. The situation escalated with the unexpected murders on April 23.

Police officers from Tha Ta Fang Police Station, along with Mae Sariang Administration, are closely monitoring the situation to ensure the safety of Ban Mae Kong Kha villagers. Many families have temporarily evacuated to stay with relatives out of caution.
