Bangkok: The Meteorological Department has issued a warning regarding heavy rainfall expected in some areas of Southern Thailand. Residents in these regions are advised to remain vigilant due to the potential dangers associated with heavy rain. In addition, thunderstorms and strong winds are anticipated in certain parts of the upper regions of Thailand, while Bangkok and its surrounding areas are experiencing generally hot weather with a 30% chance of thunderstorms.
According to Thai News Agency, the forecast for the next 24 hours indicates persistent heavy rain in the South. This weather pattern raises the risk of flash floods and forest runoff, particularly on hillsides near waterways and low-lying areas. The influence of the westerly and southwesterly winds over the Andaman Sea, the South, and the Gulf of Thailand is contributing to this weather condition. The Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea are expected to have waves approximately 1 meter high, with areas experiencing thunderstorms seeing waves higher than 2 meters. Mariners are advised to avoid sailing in regions affected by thunderstorms.
In the northern parts of Thailand, thunderstorms accompanied by strong gusts of wind are expected in some areas. The overall weather remains hot, with certain locations in the North experiencing extremely hot conditions. Residents in these areas are urged to exercise caution due to potential thunderstorms and strong winds, and to take necessary precautions for their health amid changing weather conditions. This weather pattern is attributed to the southern and southwestern winds bringing moisture to the upper part of Thailand.
The current weather conditions have led to low to moderate levels of dust and smog accumulation in the upper part of Thailand, as some regions continue to experience rain.
In Bangkok and its vicinity, the weather remains generally hot, with a minimum temperature of 26-28 degrees Celsius and a maximum temperature of 35-38 degrees Celsius. There is a 30% chance of thunderstorms in the area.
