Bangkok: The Meteorological Department has issued a warning that several areas in the North, Northeast, and Central regions of Thailand are expected to experience extremely hot weather conditions. Simultaneously, certain areas in the South are forecasted to encounter heavy rain. Bangkok and its surrounding regions are predicted to have generally hot weather with a 20% chance of thunderstorms.
According to Thai News Agency, the Meteorological Department forecasts that Thailand will be generally hot, with very hot conditions in specific areas of the North, Northeast, and Central regions. These regions may also experience thunderstorms and strong gusts of wind. The department advises residents in these areas to take necessary health precautions, avoid extended outdoor activities, and remain vigilant against potential dangers from thunderstorms and strong winds. The weather conditions are attributed to low pressure from the heat affecting the upper regions of Thailand, coupled with southern and southwestern winds.
In the South, the presence of southwesterly and southeasterly winds over the Gulf of Thailand, the South, and the Andaman Sea is expected to bring heavy rain in some areas. The Andaman Sea is anticipated to have waves approximately 1 meter high, with higher waves in areas experiencing thunderstorms. Sailors in the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea are advised to steer clear of storm-prone areas.
Further, between April 26 and 29, the upper part of Thailand is anticipated to face a summer storm, characterized by thunderstorms, strong winds, hail, and heavy rain. There is also a possibility of lightning due to the moderate high-pressure area from China affecting Vietnam and the South China Sea. This condition is causing southeasterly and southwesterly winds to influence the upper part of Thailand, which is already experiencing hot to very hot weather.
The weather conditions are also impacting dust accumulation, with dust and smog levels in the northern and northeastern regions being moderate to quite high due to weak wind coverage.
Bangkok and its vicinity are expected to have generally hot weather, with thunderstorms in 20% of the area. The minimum temperature is forecasted to be 27-29 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature is expected to reach 35-39 degrees Celsius.
