Ministry of Education Launches ‘OEC Hackathon’ to Foster Skills in Youth.

Bangkok: The Ministry of Education has announced the organization of the 'OEC Hackathon: Good Learning, Happiness, Sustainable Community', a new initiative aimed at engaging young people in innovative learning and community development. Pol. Gen. Permpoon Chidchob, the Minister of Education, highlighted that this event extends the Education Council's resolution, which approved an Essential Skills Set for Thai children and youth. This skills set is seen as crucial for equipping future generations with the tools needed for stability and success. According to Thai News Agency, the Office of the Education Council is keen to promote and test these skills through the hackathon, which serves as a platform for young people to showcase their problem-solving abilities. The event focuses on 'good learning' and 'happiness' while encouraging innovations for 'sustainable communities'. High school and vocational students are invited to form teams and submit ideas aimed at solving community issues or fostering sustainable d evelopment. The hackathon runs until December 25, with the top 10 teams qualifying for the 'OEC Hackathon Camp' scheduled for February 7-9, 2025. Participants will have the chance to win plaques and awards, while all will receive certificates from the Office of the Education Council.
