More rain is forecast today (Saturday) nationwide, with isolated heavy falls in some areas of the northern, north-eastern, central and eastern regions and western coast of the southern region as a result of a monsoon trough lying across Myanmar and northern Thailand, which is resulting in low pressure cell over the northern Lao PDR, according to the Thai Meteorological Department.

People in those regions have been advised to brace for gusty wind, flash floods and overflows.

Sailors and fishermen have also been warned of rough seas and strong winds, with 2-3 metre high waves in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf and over 3-metre waves in stormy areas. They have been advised to remain on shore until Wednesday.

Provinces which are forecast to see heavy and isolated heavy rain today are Mae Hong Son, Tak, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lamphun, Lampang, Phayao, Phrae, Nan and Uttaradit in northern region; Loei, Nong Khai, Bung Karn, Udon Thani, Nong Bua Lamphu, Sakhon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Khon Kaen, Kalasin, Mukdahan, Roi-et, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen and Ubon Ratchathani in the Northeast; Kanchanaburi and Ratchaburi in the central region; and Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat; Ranong, Phang-nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang and Satun.

60% of Bangkok will be hit by rain today.

The Chaba tropical storm was over the South China Sea at 4am this morning, with wind speeds of 110km/h at its centre. It is moving in a north-westerly direction at a speed of 17km/h. It is expected to make landfall in southern China over today and tomorrow, but the storm will have no direct impact on weather conditions in Thailand.
