Friends of Mrs Jomsap Saenmuangkote, the schoolteacher seeking a retrial of her fatal hit-and-run case, petitioned Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha to ensure justice for the teacher and protection for her witnesses.
The seven teachers, led by Mr Roong Suriyakarn, president of Chom Bung scholarship students, submitted their petition, addressed to the prime minister, to the Public Service Centre at the Office of Civil Service Commission.
Mr Roong said the group was concerned with Mrs Jomsap's attempt to revive the hit and run case in which she was finally sentenced to more than three years in prison by the Supreme Court.
They claimed that Mrs Jomsap's witnesses and their relatives were summoned by the police or issued with arrest warrants in a way which was deemed as an act of intimidation by the police.
They said they would like to see the prime minister to step in to ensure justice for all parties concerned.
