New commemorative banknotes in remembrance of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej will be put on circulation from Sept 20, according to Bank of Thailand governor Veerathai Santiprabhob.
Mr Veerathai said the new commemorative banknotes will be in five denominations � 20 baht, 50 baht, 100 baht, 500 baht and 1,000 baht.
They will be in circulation like other ordinary banknotes, starting Sept 20.
From that date, members of the public can exchange their regular banknotes for the new commemorative banknotes for unlimited amounts at all branches of Siam Commercial Bank, Government Savings Bank, Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives, Government Housing Bank and Islamic Bank of Thailand throughout the country, Mr Veerathai said.
