NLA vice president says election roadmap still on timeframe

The vice president of the National Legislative Assembly (NLA) Surachai Liengboonlertchai assured yesterday (Jan 4) that the election roadmap is still on the timeframe as stated in the Constitution.

He said there was no reason to have any change in the timeframe.

He said the NLA would be able to finish organic laws to enable election roadmap on its schedule.

However he said he could not confirm exactly if election would be held, but only the part which the NLA is doing will proceed in accordance with the Constitution.

He said election countdown on the part of the NLA could start only the organic laws relevant to election of MPs and senators are finished and are in force.

He said the two organic laws would be debated under the guidelines and intent of the Constitution, not under the military junta's Order No 53/2560.

He said the NLA was ready to listen to all comments.
