No plan to produce more commemorative coins

The Head of the Treasury Department urged not to buy commemorative coins ordering form. To receive the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej commemorative coins, applicants need to present both ID card and ordering form to retrieve the coins. Currently, only Q-pro nickel coins are available and the department had no plan to produce more coins.

After the Treasury Department open for booking of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej commemorative coins since Aug 22, within 2 days all coins except Q-pro nickel coins were fully booked. Of the 39,999,999 Q-pro nickel coins minted, 13 million of them were booked on Tuesday.

Mr Patchara said that members of the public who are interested to make advance bookings for the copper coins can do so at all state-owned and commercial banks and the Treasury Department by producing their ID cards until September 30. The price for the coins is set at 100 baht apiece and each individual can book a maximum of three coins.

For the time being, Mr Patchara said the department had no plan to produce more commemorative coins. However, he added that the department would assess public demand and would later decide what to do next.
