Nok Air's flight DD8125 to Bangkok was forced to land at Mae Sot airport yesterday afternoon, 10 minutes after takeoff.
The plane took off from Mae Sot at 5 pm but after it was airborne for 10 minutes, there was a loud bang in the passenger cabin, initially from faulty cabin air system.
Following the loud bang, the captain then announced through the plane speakers advising all passengers to return to their seats and fasten their seat belts.
There was no further explanation from the captain.
The plane later returned and landed safely at the airport.
All passengers were later arranged on the next flight at 6.20pm back to Bangkok.
Mae Sot airport official said later that the faulty cabin air system has no impact on flying.
But the captain decided to return to the airport because the loud noises might disturb passengers.
He also said the plane just landed normally and not on emergency basis as reported.
