A motorcyclist was killed and three others on the side car were injured when a military armoured car skidded and crashed into the motorcycle with sidecar on Highway 42 in Pattani province yesterday (Jan 14).
According to police, the accident happened on Highway 42 from Pattani to Narathiwat in front of Krue Se musjid in Pattani at about 4 pm.
The military vehicle attached to Pattani Special Task Force was running on the highway on its routine patrol to provide security.
The vehicle was reportedly running in speed while it arrived near the musjid amid heavy rain.
It skidded and crashed into the motorcycle with sidecar parked in front of a roadside noodle shop, killing Hamadsakree Samo, 37, the motorcycle driver and injuring three others on the sidecar.
The injured, one man and two women, were rushed to Pattani hospital.
Commander of the Pattani Task Force Maj Gen Chatuporn Klampasokt later visited the injured at the hospital.
He also handed financial assistance to the injured�10,000 each and 20,000 baht for burial ceremony for the killed driver.
He will today (Jan 15) initially hand over another 100,000 baht cash aid for the family of the driver.
