Bangkok: Drugs continue to flood into the northern border without stopping. Some of them are found to be smugglers of the Por Lee network, the drug kingpin on the Thai-Laos border. The network was dismantled 5 years ago, forcing him to flee abroad, but has resurrected again. In the past 5 years, nearly 100 smugglers in this network have been arrested and have had arrest warrants issued. The seized evidence alone includes no less than 150 million methamphetamine pills, and almost 1,000 kilograms of ice and heroin, forcing officials to launch Operation Por Lee Part 2.
According to Thai News Agency, the resurgence of the Por Lee network has prompted law enforcement agencies to intensify their efforts to dismantle the operations once more. The network's ability to re-establish itself and continue smuggling activities poses a significant challenge to authorities who are determined to bring the perpetrators to justice. The volume of drugs seized so far underscores the scale and reach of the operation, which spans across the Thai-Laos border.
Authorities are coordinating with international partners to track down Por Lee, the notorious drug kingpin, and his associates. The operation aims not only to arrest the remaining members of the network but also to cut off the supply routes that have been used to transport the massive quantities of drugs. The ongoing efforts reflect the commitment of law enforcement to curb the drug trade and prevent further infiltration into the region.
