Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha yesterday penned a message wishing all Thais happiness and safety in enjoying the upcoming Songkran water festival, while also urging them to adopt a 'good host' attitude for all foreign visitors.
He wrote the well-wish message for the Thai traditional New Year coming next week as he yesterday visited a special 2017 Songkran event titled 'Songkran the Thai Way Conserving Water and Safety for All' hosted by the Ministry of Culture and its affiliate 14 departments at Government House.
He took this opportunity to personally pen a letter to the Thai people of wishing them happiness, safety and take the opportunity to refresh themselves for Songkran and thereafter.
The prime minister also asked all Thais to preserve traditional Thai Songkran culture and adopt a 'good host' attitude for all foreign visitors.
For the concern of high fatal traffic accidents during this long Songkran festival, Gen Prayu ordered all provincial governors to adopt a strict attitude towards public consumption of alcohol as well as ensuring that splashing water by merrymakers is only done in an orderly fashion and only at the allocated locations within each province.
