Sam Phran: An illegal pub operating in the Sam Phran area of Nakhon Pathom was raided by a special task force led by the Director-General of the Department of Provincial Administration, revealing widespread drug use and multiple violations of the law. Dubbed "Operation Singha Dab Saeng," the raid was conducted in the early hours, with the aim of clamping down on illegal establishments operating without licenses and flouting legal regulations.
According to Thai News Agency, the operation was a response to complaints from local residents to the Ministry of Interior's Damrongtham Center, who reported the pub for allowing drug use and operating beyond legal hours. The raid, which took place at 3:00 a.m. on March 23, 2025, discovered a nightclub filled with 212 patrons, where drugs were openly used, and alcohol was served far past the closing time. The venue, identified as 'Neon Shop,' was found to be functioning without the necessary licenses and was facilitating drug activities, with drugs like ketamine and methamphetamine pills scattered across the floor.
The authorities arrested the pub owner, caretaker, and several others involved, charging them with operating a business without permission, selling alcohol during prohibited hours, and possession of illegal liquor under the Customs Act. The pub's operations were deemed a violation of the National Council for Peace and Order's directive, prompting the Nakhon Pathom governor to order its closure for five years. Customers testing positive for drug use, indicated by purple urine, are also facing legal action from the Sam Phran District Administration.
Mr. Chaiwat Junthiraphong, Director-General of the Department of Provincial Administration, emphasized that the 'Neon' venue blatantly violated multiple laws, including operating without a license and permitting drug use, marking a clear and intentional breach of legal standards. The closure aligns with efforts to uphold public safety and order, as directed by Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Minister of the Interior. The raid not only addressed public grievances but also disrupted the cycle of drug distribution, aiming to prevent entertainment venues from becoming hubs for drug trafficking.
This operation is part of the Department of Provincial Administration's broader initiative to enforce the 5A 2025 Safe District policy, targeting drug issues and influential figures to foster a peaceful and secure society. Citizens are encouraged to report illegal activities to local authorities or directly to the Damrongtham Center via hotline 1567 if their concerns remain unresolved.
