Region 4 Border Patrol Police Seizes Drugs Worth 117 Million Baht

Hat Yai: The drug suppression unit of the Border Patrol Police Region 4 seized drugs worth a total of over 117 million baht, consisting of 596 bars of heroin weighing 208.6 kilograms worth over 89 million baht and over 2.7 million methamphetamine pills worth 28 million baht.

According to Thai News Agency, the Narcotics Suppression Unit of the Border Patrol Police Region 4 conducted the seizure in Tung Tam Sao Subdistrict, Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province. The operation uncovered 596 bars of heroin and more than 2.7 million methamphetamine pills. The heroin weighed 208.6 kilograms and was valued at 89 million baht, while the methamphetamine pills were estimated to be worth 28 million baht.

Officers discovered that the drugs were being transported to a hut located in a rubber plantation. The authorities laid in wait until Mr. Sayomphu arrived on a motorcycle, leading to his arrest. Initially, Mr. Sayomphu claimed that the drugs belonged to individuals known as Mr. Boss or Mr. Tom, who were purportedly planning to distribute them to customers. During the arrest, Mr. Wirot contacted Mr. Sayomphu to check on the status of the items ordered. This provided the police with an opportunity to set an additional trap to apprehend him. The police are now working to expand the investigation to dismantle what is believed to be a large, nationwide drug trafficking network.
