Udon Thani: Relatives weep as they receive the bodies of five victims of an SUV accident where a trailer truck crashed into them and crushed them.

According to Thai News Agency, the tragic incident occurred when a white SUV was struck from behind by an 18-wheel trailer truck with significant force. The collision led to the SUV crashing into a copy and an oil tanker parked in front. The accident resulted in three injuries and eight fatalities. Among the deceased, five were from Udon Thani Province and three from Nakhon Ratchasima Province. All the victims were relatives, and the accident took place in the middle of the night on April 24.

On the evening of April 26, at Wat Pho Chai in Ban Don Taeng, Na Kha Subdistrict, Mueang District, Udon Thani Province, relatives of the five victims from Udon Thani gathered to perform religious rites. The atmosphere was somber as family members prepared to lay their loved ones to rest.

A convoy from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation arrived at 9:00 PM, bringing the bodies back to their hometown. The coffins were adorned with sacred threads, and monks led the procession. The bodies were placed in refrigerated coffins as Mr. Thongluean Ontapha, aged 67, who lost his wife, children, and grandchildren in the accident, lit incense sticks to honor the deceased. Monks were then invited to chant the Matika Bang Sukul.
