About 20,000 cyclists joined Bangkok Car Free Day this morning (Sunday) hosted by Bangkok Metropolitan Administration with the participation from representatives from embassies of the United States, Canada and European Union.

The cyclists biked around the Rattanakosin island covering a distance of about nine kilometer as a symbolic gesture to encourage motorists to change their habit by reducing their dependence on private cars and to switch to other modes of transport such as mass transit system, buses and boats, cycling and even walking.

The event featured many recreational, sporting and entertainment activities such as walkathon, rally, free car tour of Rattanakosin island, free bicycle ride, mini concert, extreme bicycle sport competition.
