Southern Border Provinces Development for Greater Security in the Deep South

The Southern Border Provinces Administrative Center (SBPAC) has discussed with relevant agencies various projects to develop the deep South and solve local problems in all dimensions for greater security.

SBPAC Secretary-General Rear Admiral Somkiat Pholprayoon on 8 July 2021 chaired a meeting to screen the projects to be submitted to the Southern Border Provinces Development Strategy Committee, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwon on 14 July 2021. Also joining the meeting were representatives from 42 government agencies.

The meeting heard a report on progress of implementing such projects as assistance provided to Thai workers returning from Malaysia because of the COVID-19 situation, water resource and electricity management, and efforts to develop Chana district in Songkhla province as a model city under the project “Triangle of Stability, Prosperity, and Sustainability.”

It stressed the need to survey land title deeds in the deep South between 2021 and 2027, solve the child nutrition problem, and develop halal livestock linking with the world market, in order to improve local people’s quality of life.

On the same day, SBPAC also held a meeting to discuss directions for the development of the innovation business in the South, especially southern border provinces.

The project has been carried out by the National Innovation Agency (Public Organization). The meeting gave information about the needs of types of innovation in the deep South and obstacles to industrial development in connection with local innovation. The information will be used to set policies to promote innovation development in the deep South of Thailand.
