Storm Disrupts Songkran Preparations in Korat, Large Trees Toppled and Panic Ensues

Nakhon Ratchasima: A summer storm wreaked havoc in Korat, causing significant disruption as large trees fell and local villagers fled in panic. The unexpected weather event left officials scrambling as they prepared for the Songkran festival.

According to Thai News Agency, staff at a public service point in Tambon Krachon, Amphoe Phimai, captured dramatic footage of the storm nearly sweeping away tents at the service area. This forced the staff, who became unintended victims, to hurriedly gather their belongings and escape to safety.

Another video revealed chaos at the light and sound event venue in Prasat Huai Khan, located in Huai Thalang District. As officials were setting up, the storm unleashed heavy rain and strong winds, leading to the toppling of large trees. Vendors, tourists, and event organizers were seen fleeing the open area as their possessions were scattered by the gusts.

Once the storm subsided, the aftermath included fallen trees on power lines and displaced merchandise tents. Products intended for sale were damaged, and a management tent was found lodged in a tree. Efforts were quickly made to retrieve and repair the damaged items to ensure the event could proceed as scheduled by 7:00 p.m.
