A female school teacher was shot dead and a school employee was wounded by a suspected militant riding on the pillion of a motorcycle in Mayo district of Pattani Friday morning.
The dead victim was identified as Ms Sunisa Boonyen, a non-formal education school teacher while the injured was identified as Mrs Chadaporn Teeseng.
The two victims, travelling in a car driven by Ms Sunisa, were on their way from the non-formal education office in Mayo district to Ban Trang to participate in an event to dye black clothes for the villagers.
After having arrived at a spot about 50 metres from the office, a motorcycle approached their car and the pillion rider fired six shots through the driver's side windshield, killing Ms Sunisa behind the wheel while Mrs Chadaporn who sat next to her was injured.
Before escaping toward Thung Yang Daeng district, the suspected militants left behind a note which read: For those who killed Malay people.
A police squad which arrived at the scene shortly afterward rushed the two victims to the district hospital. They found six spent shells of .45 calibre at the crime scene.
CCTV at the scene managed to capture the images of the two suspects with the shooter wearing a checkered shirt. The motorcycle used in the attack belong to Mrs Tasanaporn Puang-in which was reported stolen from Muang district on July 23.
