According to Thai News Agency, witnesses reported that the perpetrators were teenagers who arrived at the festival in a pickup truck with friends to watch the Morlam performance. A confrontation occurred with another group of teenagers. Mr. Rungthiva, who attempted to intervene, was shot in the head during the altercation. The shooter then fled the scene in the pickup truck. Police conducted an ins pection of the crime scene and discovered a black pickup truck with visible damage, including broken side mirrors and a detached driver's door handle. A 9 mm handgun casing was found near the vehicle's front left wheel and was collected as evidence.
