Thai Windsurfing Team Completes Princess Sofia Regatta in Spain, Sets Sights on France Championship

Palma: The Thai windsurfing team has concluded its participation in the "Princess Sofia Regatta-Palma" held in Palma, Majorca, Spain, from March 31 to April 5, 2025. The Windsurfing Association of Thailand entered three athletes in the competition, featuring Nitipat Chaiwuthiwet in the general male category, Athicha Homraruen, and "Dao" Siriporn Kaewduangngam in the general female category, under the guidance of coach Mr. Sakda Sakulfang.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Phatthana Boonsawat, Secretary-General of the Windsurfing Association, announced the results, noting Nitipat Chaiwutthiwet finished 88th with 342 lost points in the general male category. In the general female category, Athicha Homraruen secured 56th place with 576 lost points, while 'Dao' Siriporn Kaewduangngam finished 63rd with 700 lost points.

Mr. Boonsawat stated, "I received a report from the coach that the overall performance of the athletes was satisfactory. Although the sea and wind conditions were quite different from what they usually practice in Thailand, everyone tried their best. I have instructed the coach to take the mistakes and improve them in order to prepare for the next competition."

Following the conclusion of the "Princess Sofia Regatta-Palma" in Spain, the Thai windsurfing team is set to compete in the "World Championship and Olympic Class Regatta" in France from April 19 to 26, 2025. This event will serve as the final of three European competitions before the team returns to Thailand.
