Bangkok: The Thai women's futsal team is set to face Bahrain in their opening match of the 2025 AFC Women's Futsal Asian Cup in China, with hopes of securing their first 3 points in this crucial encounter.
According to Thai News Agency, the Thai national team underwent their final training session before the group stage match against Bahrain. Present at the session were key figures such as "Big Pom" Adisak Benjasirwan, Vice President of the Association, and Air Chief Marshal Surasak Meemani, Team Advisor. The training, led by Head Coach "Coach O" Thanathorn Santhanaprasit, focused on refining both offensive and defensive strategies in preparation for the game, with the session lasting 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Prior to the training, "Coach O" expressed confidence in the team's readiness for the first game. Although some players may not be at peak fitness, he emphasized the squad's ability to cover for each other. He warned against underestimating Bahrain, despite the Thai team's rigorous practice sessions. Coach O also highlighted the importance of decisive ball handling in critical situations, noting the absence of video review technology. The team's primary goal remains to secure their first set of 3 points.
The Thai women's futsal team is competing in Group C, alongside Japan, Indonesia, and Bahrain. Today's match against Bahrain will take place at Hohhot Stadium at 1:00 p.m. Thailand time. The top three teams from the tournament will earn qualification to the 2025 Women's Futsal World Cup in the Philippines.
