The US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) has applauded Thailand’s successful response to the COVID-19 pandemic within the country.


A delegation from USABC paid a courtesy call on Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, on 24 November 2020. The delegation reiterated its support for Thailand on the post-COVID-19 economic recovery.


The Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs highlighted development in Thailand’s COVID-19 public health and economic measures, as well as Thailand’s economic policy direction, particularly toward digital economy and infrastructure development in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC).


Both sides discussed potential cooperation during and in the post-COVID-19 pandemic in aspects of research and development of the COVID-19 vaccine and economic recovery.


They exchanged views on ways to support Thailand’s long-term economic development, fostering an ecosystem for innovation, and promoting environment conducive to investment.


On this occasion, the Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs also invited USABC companies to expand their investments in Thailand, especially in the EEC area.


The delegation, comprising representatives of 28 USABC firms, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha on 25 November 2020. The Prime Minister invited the US private sector to invest in the EEC, especially in the fields of digital development and technology, medicine and health, and production and logistics.
