BANGKOK, Thailand Thailand's economy grew at its fastest pace in five years in the first three months of 2018 on higher private consumption and improved exports, Financial Times reported.

The country's economy grew 4.8 per cent year on year in the three months to the end of March, the fastest pace of growth since the first quarter of 2013 and up from 4 per cent in the final quarter of 2017, according to data from the National Economic and Social Development Board.

Private consumption grew by 3.6 per cent from 3.4 per cent in the previous quarter.
