Thailand, Malaysia Strengthened Collaboration On Trade, Digital Economy

BANGKOK, Thailand’s Foreign Minister, Don Pramudwinai, and his Malaysian counterpart, Saifuddin Abdullah, yesterday announced to strengthen cooperation in areas such as trade and digital economy.

Both sides agreed, at a joint press conference, to work closely on boosting bilateral trade to a target of 30 billion U.S. dollars by 2025.

Don and Saifuddin also committed to expanding the collaboration to digital industries, with focus on business matching and foreign investment.

They further stressed the importance of accelerating ongoing projects, especially those enhancing the connectivity between both countries.

Among other topics both ministers touched upon were, energy security, border management and cultural exchanges.

From Aug 9 to 10 (yesterday), Don and Saifuddin co-chaired the 14th Meeting of the Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation (JC), and the 5th Ministerial Meeting of the Committee on Joint Development Strategy for Border Areas (JDS), in Bangkok.
