Bangkok: The final day of the Songkran festival witnessed a significant number of travelers heading back to Bangkok, with traffic on the Asia Road moving efficiently. This morning, the stretch from Ayutthaya to Chainat was bustling with vehicles, yet maintained a steady flow.
According to Thai News Agency, the inbound traffic on Asia Road towards Bangkok, particularly from the Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Overpass to the Bang Pa-in Highways, was heavy but smooth, with vehicles traveling at speeds of 80-100 kilometers per hour. As today marks the last day of the government holiday, an increase in traffic volume is anticipated in the afternoon with business set to resume tomorrow.
Similarly, on Highway No. 32, also known as Asia Road, cars heading towards Bangkok through Chai Nat Province experienced moderate traffic levels. At around 9:20 a.m., traffic flowed at a rate of approximately 2,500 cars per hour with average speeds ranging from 90-100 kilometers per hour. Traffic remained steady from kilometers 140-149 in Manarom District, although vehicles slowed down at kilometer 139 to navigate the Hang Nam Sak intersection where traffic lights were managed by police, allowing a 6-minute green light interval towards Bangkok.
In Muang Chai Nat District, the 133 km curved section also saw smooth traffic movement. After passing the Chai Nat Interchange towards the 111 km section in Sapphaya District, vehicles could increase speed on the straight road. However, traffic is expected to intensify in the afternoon, potentially exceeding 5,000 cars per hour.
